In the society of his time, where male supremacy was common sense, women played a role that clearly subordinated it to the male. Frida embodied a new kind of woman: self-sufficient, strong and androgynous sexual characteristics. In the macho tendency then Mexico, this woman adopted attitudes and manly features. He represented in his work with a strongly ambiguous physical with some masculine traits exaggerating his eyebrows and his nascent moustache.
It was the first painters he expressed in his work their female identity from their own perspective of herself as a woman, rejecting the vision of the feminine that was drawn from the traditional masculine world. She was one of which he contributed to the formation of a new type of identity for women, and today, it is recognized as a symbol.
